ICT & Language Learning Fair 2016

The ICT & Language Learning Fair 2016 is intended to be a showcase of some of the most interesting and innovative new methodologies and technologies on offer for language learning today to languages learners, teachers and enthusiasts alike. It is being organised to mark the end of two EU funded language learning projects, L Pack 2: Citizenship Language Pack for Migrants in Europe and RETOUR: Russian for Tourism. These projects implemented new technology into traditional teaching methods to create comprehensive programmes for learning a wide variety of languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Modern Greek, Lithuanian, and Russian.
Participants in this language fair will be able to browse our exhibition hall, visiting the stalls of various new language learning projects and products, free workshops will be available for those who would like to learn more about L Pack 2 or RETOUR and guest speaker, Dr Kristin Brogan of the Institute of Technology Tralee, will give a talk on "International language projects and their wider context". A light breakfast will also be provided to guests upon arrival.

Mapping Ransmayr

Austrian Christoph Ransmayr, one of Europe’s finest living writers, travels and writes. He writes as he travels, travels as he writes. He maps the land and its inhabitants, history and its inhabitants, the mountains, the sea, the stars. Pages, stages, dialogues, duetts, inventions, traditions, stories, speeches. And in all of this, in every conceivable literary form, we read and walk in his wake. Where has he brought us? What have we seen?
Over the course of two days, this bilingual German–English conference will explore the various forms of mapping that go on in Ransmayr’s work – from cartography to anthropology to cosmology to history to the stretching of literary form itself. It will explore explore his writing as an invention of place, and place as the inspiration of writing.
The conference will conclude with a public reading in German and English by the author.
