Anyone with an interest in the area of language education, mulitlingualism, multilingual literacy, and language acquisition.

The OVFL Language Awareness subgroup will:
1. work towards promoting awareness of the value of individual multilingualism/multilingual literacy for psycho-social wellbeing, for maximising attainment in the education sector and for further language acquisition
2. initially identify ways in which the use of L1s other than English, including Irish, on the one hand, and the use of L2s, including EAL and Irish, on the other, may be supported across the mainstream educational system and in the relationship developed between the mainstream and complementary education sectors
Tangible outcomes of this work will be to:
3. promote good practice recommendations for the different educational sectors, from primary to tertiary
4. develop templates for pre- or in-service professional development programmes for teachers and teachers' assistants in the complementary education sector
5. advise teachers on how to implement the curricular language awareness component
