Mapping  Christoph Ransmayr
June 16, 2016
Over two days in June 2016 in a collaboration between the Department of Germanic Studies, Trinity College Dublin and the Literaturarchiv der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek, we would like to explore Ransmayr’s work under the heading of  Mapping with all its suggestive meanings. We want to think about the various forms of mapping that go on in his work – from cartography to anthropology to cosmology to history to the stretching of literary form itself. We want to explore his writing as an invention of place, and place as the inspiration of writing.
Ireland has been privileged to be Christoph Ransmayr’s second home, his Bühne am Meer. For this conference he will return to Dublin to read to us.
Keynote speakers are Bernhard Fetz (Vienna) and Manfred Mittermayr (Salzburg) who will lead the way into Ransmayr in the form of a duet. A collection of essays for publication is planned.
Proposals for papers in German or English (approx 250 words) should be sent to the organisers Caitríona Leahy ([email protected]) and Marcel Illetschko ([email protected]) by Tuesday, 1 December 2016.

Dezember 2016, einzureichen.
