It is acknowledged that Ireland has much ground to make up in this field and urgently needs to leverage existing and new resources to address provision shortfalls in foreign language teaching, an area of immense importance at a time of growing global change and challenge. All three organisations and their many members have made significant contributions to the Consultation Framework for the strategy and renew their commitment to further engagement with the Minister and his officials. We wish Mr Bruton well in his ambitious endeavours and look forward to the long-awaited launch of this key Foreign Languages Strategy for Ireland in the very near future.
