Sir,
In August 2014, former Minister O’Sullivan initiated a consultation phase on “Foreign Languages in Irish Education”. This strategy was supposed to be published in 2015. On the DES website, nearly 80 submissions from primary, post-primary, third level education, cultural institutes, enterprise and organisations like ours are accessible. However, almost two years on, no coherent strategy has emerged. After Brexit, where English might lose its status as official European language, it is now a matter of urgency to introduce a plan to foster and develop modern and migrant languages in Ireland.
