The Network of Experts working on the Social Dimension of Education and Training (NESET) has prepared a new report entitled: The future of language education in Europe: case studies of innovative practices. It is available on: nesetweb.eu. The approach to teaching and learning in Scoil Bhríde (Cailíní) is featured on pp. 24,25 of the full report under the heading: Foreword: an example of innovative instructional approaches to language-sensitive teaching.
A series of webinars based on the report above, hosted by NESET and co-chaired by the European Commission starts on 18 June 2020. All four webinars are open to the public and are free of charge. On 28 May you are invited to join in the online launch of the study “The Impact and Experience of Foreign Languages in the Context of Erasmus+ in All Education Sectors in Ireland” by Dr. Britta C. Jung. This study, commissioned by Léargas and the Higher Education Authority and supported by the Irish Research Council, explores how Erasmus+ influences attitudes to and experience of foreign language learning in Ireland. Dr. Jung will present the main findings of the study, followed by a discussion and question-and-answer section.

Translation Competition for secondary schools
The ITIA (Irish Translators' and Interpreters' Association) is once again organising a translation competition for secondary school students in Ireland. Students are asked to translate an excerpt from a novel or short story from one of the following languages into English: French, Chinese (Mandarin), German, Irish, Italian, Polish, Japanese or Spanish. A prize of €100 will be awarded to the best translation for each language. The deadline for receipt of translations is: 5 pm, Friday, 24 May 2019 More information can be found in the pdf file -> |

My Thesis in 3 minutes in French will take place in Dublin on Wednesday 13th March 2019 (6.30-8.00 pm).
Each participant will present her/his dissertation subject in French and in 3 minutes for a general and non-specialist public. There will be nice prizes to reward the best presentations!
Who can participate? You have to be a PhD student currently registered in an Irish higher education institution. #MT3F is opened to all disciplines and all nationalities!

At the conference the findings of a European Policy Experiment study will be presented with presentations and debate which involve students, teachers and policy makers who work in teacher education. Thanks to the funding by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Programme, there is no registration fee for this conference. However, participants are expected to cover all of their own travel and subsistence costs.
Please note that abstract proposals are welcome from all colleagues working in this area - not only those who have been involved in the EVALUATE project.
